My Thursday Lust

This has been all over the fashion mags, websites and blogs. But there's a definite reason why. Embracing 2 of the biggest recent trends, camel and leather, this versatile coat is sleek and classy, and yet still edgy in it's own right.
If, like me, you find it hard to find a decent mac or leather jacket to suit, this could be the answer to your problems.
I'm praying that my local Zara store will have it in stock. If not....there'll be TROUBLE.

Derek Lam-bay

Ahh, it's so exciting. Derek Lam has exclusively designed a range of dresses for purchase on ebay. Revealing the dresses during fashion week, the public then had a chance to vote for their 5 favourites which would then go on sale on ebay. The following are the 5 dresses that were chosen and on the Derek Lam eBay site you can see his inspiration behind each piece and sign up to be notified when they go on sale.

My personal favourite is the black cotton poplin 'black tie' evening dress.
The best part is that they come in sizes 0 to 16 and each piece is versatile and classic, something you'd keep in your wardrobe for a while to come.

Head on over to ebay and check them out!

Through the looking glass..

This AWESOME Christopher Kane clutch reminds me of the plastic folders I use at work to keep my desk tidy. Maybe tomorrow i'll fashion one into a clutch and bring it out with me.
Just make sure you're not keeping anything in your bag that you shouldn't be, for all to see ;)

April 2011 Vintage Fashion and Decor Fair

Earlier this month I gave details of a Vintage Fashion and Decor Fair that's happening here, in Dublin. Here's some more information for the event happening in April.
I will be heading along to it myself and I hope you guys can too.

Royal Marine Hotel, Dun Laoghaire
Sunday 17th April Noon - 6.30pm

A showcase for established and new businesses from around Ireland focused on vintage fashion and retro decor.

The Dublin Vintage Fashion and Decor Fair is returning to the Royal Marine Hotel in Dun Laoghaire on 17th April. It will be showcasing independent businesses from around Ireland specialising in vintage clothing, memorabilia and decor. There will be an opportunity to see and buy from over forty retailers specialising in all that is glamourous from our past.
Over the past years, a number of Irish women have turned the economic disaster of redundancy into an opportunity which has given them the incentive to turn a private passion into a viable business. Among the entrepreneurs of the Celtic bust taking part in the Vintage Fashion and Decor Fair is Sinead Lee of Hems and Gems, a new vintage shop in Gorey, Co. Wexford. Made redundant in 2009 after nine years as a buyer for a bathroom company, Sinead took time out to  have a son, Oliver, and to have a good think about the future. Rather than jumping back into a depressed job market, she decided now was the time to indulge her passion, and turned her expertise in purchasing to the area of vintage fashion. You can view her selection of well priced vintage and revamped clothing at the Vintage Fashion and Decor Fair in the Royal Marine Hotel on Sunday 17th April, and in her fun and quirky shop in the Indoor Market, Gorey.

Move over ANTM

I just finished watching the first episode of  The Model Agency on 4od. Yes, I know i'm nearly 2 weeks late and behind everyone else, i'll be caught up by this time tomorrow.
I'm not going to say too much without watching the next few episodes, but I think I already have a favourite in Carole. Annie seems like a sweetheart, though perhaps playing to the cameras just a tad.
Anyway, there's not too much to say after watching just one episode, other than that I think i'll be enjoying this for the rest of the series. YAY, real life! Well....as 'real' as reality tv can be.

Have any of you been watching it? What do you think?

A few hot things

Just a few things that rocked my world today

Georgina Goodman clogs - adore the laces

The Straw PS1 Keep All from Proenza Schouler - how perfect for spring? I'd love to get my hands on it and see how soft and malleable the straw is. Available now on net-a-porter.

Sienna Miller modelling for her own Twenty8Twelve fashion line via Nylon
Sienna makes me sick with her effortless glamour and this skirt is ace, I love how the pockets look almost hidden in the pattern and how they're right on the front of the skirt, rather than on the sides. I also love the paperbag waist - hey, anything to hide a multitude of sins.

Things I like right now..

1. Cupcakes. And pictures of cupcakes. And thinking about making cupcakes. And eating cupcakes. And dreaming of cupcakes. And reading about cupcakes. Especially The Cupcaketologist.

2. My bed. New cushions and pillows from IKEA = major comfort and, more importantly, PRIDE in my bed. Yeah, what's the point in having a comfy bed if you're not proud of it. I squeal with excitement when I think of my bed and look forward to immersing myself in all my pillows and cushions and catching up with some online reading. (Maybe if my bed wasn't so comfy I wouldn't spend so much time online? Naaah, doubt it)

3. Learning more about Isabella Blow. I'm currently waiting on a delivery of her biography, Blow by Blow. I've always been intrigued by her, she reminds me of a dear friend of my mother's, but seeing insights into her personality in the aforementioned documentary, McQueen and I, I really want to know more about her.

4. Ravel Graphic Strappy Sandals. I need these in my life.

5. Nicole Richie for Harper's Bizaare Russia. I've professed my love over & over for Nicole, now you can see why I think she's AWESOME.

6. YSL Arty ring. Yes, they've been around for a while. Yes, nearly every blogger has blogged about them. Yes, any celebrity worth their weight in salt already has one. That doesn't make me want one any less and I am literally OBSESSED with them at the moment. I'm planning ways to convince myself that it's ok to purchase one and not eat for a week or 2..

7. Highstreet and mum favourites, Marks & Spencer, are my go-to for tights, underwear and swimwear and they've caught my eye with this gorgeous stripy dress. I have a few weddings upcoming this summer and I reckon this will be a great addition to my wardrobe for one of them. I love the contrast of the dusky pink bow with the boldness of the black and white stripes. No harm in planning early and getting one while I can.

8. Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb Extreme - I bought this in the airport on my way back from London at Christmas. Being a self-douser of perfume I thought the 'extreme' version might mean i'd spray less. I was wrong. It does, however, mean I can still smell it at the end of the day. Apologies if any of you end up next to me on the bus.

9.Speaking of London....I've booked a trip to visit one of my closest friends at the end of March. It's just a flying visit, but considering I'm just back from New York, I think i'll be ok with that. It's a strictly NO SHOPPING strip, but I can't wait for loads of chats and lots of lovely gin and tonics. So number 9 will be London and G&T's!

10. You can never have too much Stevie Nicks in your life.
