And now, in it's second year, to add to all the above wondrousness, we have the Dublin Festival of Fashion.
Check out the website, but here's a little bit from the press release to whet your appetite:
Unfortunately I missed last year's festival due to holidaying commitments (woe is me), but i'm super excited about this year. The annual style spectacle that is the Dublin Fashion Festival returns this September 8th to 11th, celebrating all that is great about style in Dublin’s fair city. Hosted by this year’s Face of the Festival, Sonya Lennon, the Dublin Fashion Festival is the brainchild of Dublin City Business Improvement District (BID).
Dublin is one of the many cities without it's own fashion week and it seems a crying shame, especially when you count all the successful designers, stylists, photographers and more that hail from Dublin. There's the obvious likes of John Rocha, Joanne Hynes, Philip Treacy and all the new talent like Simone Rocha and Stephanie G Foy.
And that's not all! Project 51 is a new space opening this month on trendy South William Street. Featuring Irish designers it is a great chance for consumers to get their mitts on some lovely bits and pieces. I'm looking forward to paying it a visit.
So with all of these initiatives, and they're honestly to name a few, it's pretty easy to agree that Dublin, despite it's economic and social woes, really does ROCK.
I'll leave you with the video of the launch of DFF. Check it out and check out the website. For anyone in Dublin, or Ireland, it looks to be a great weekend. For anyone outside of Ireland, why not make a trip over, there'll be Guinness-swilling aplenty once the fashion show lights down.
